Spotify to Support Apple HLS Video for Podcast Distribution Soon

Spotify is preparing to support Apple's HLS video technology for podcast distribution. The move will allow video podcast creators to share their content on Apple Podcasts without changing their existing workflow. Monetization will be preserved when shows are distributed through Apple's platform.

Creators must upload directly to Spotify

Creators must upload their content directly to Spotify to use the Apple integration and qualify for monetization. Third-party integrations with Libsyn, Podigee, Audioboom, Audiomeans, and Podspace are already live. Spotify stated that video is where podcast growth is happening, and expanding a show's presence across both platforms can increase discoverability, engagement, and earning opportunities.

The exact rollout date for the integration has not been confirmed. Spotify said it is actively working with Apple on the feature but did not provide a specific timeline.

The announcement comes as Spotify continues to expand its podcast tools. The company operates Spotify for Creators and Megaphone, its podcast hosting and monetization platforms.
