Samsung Electronics China has officially announced its withdrawal from the domestic monitor market. The company confirmed the exit of its home appliance division, which includes the monitor business, during an internal video conference. The President of Samsung Electronics China delivered this announcement to staff members.
Despite the operational exit, Samsung monitors will remain available for purchase in China until 2026. Hanlinhui, also known as Guodai, will continue to serve as the sole authorized distributor for Samsung monitors in the region. This arrangement persists due to an unexpired distribution agreement between the two parties.
The formal exit process is expected to take at least two months to complete. Rumors circulating within the company suggest that severance packages for affected employees may exceed standard legal requirements. These rumored packages could include N+3 or N+4 compensation along with a Samsung smartphone, though this remains an internal transmission rather than confirmed policy.
The successor department responsible for the monitor business after the exit has not yet been determined. It remains unclear which specific unit within Samsung Group will take over these operations. This uncertainty highlights the ongoing restructuring of Samsung's presence in the Chinese market.
