Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and 4 Gen 1 Mobile Platforms

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 mobile platforms on May 6, 2026. The company introduced these chips to expand user expectations for smartphones across various price segments. The launch aims to deliver a more attractive usage experience underpinned by robust performance and reliable battery life.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 offers 21% GPU boost and 5G connectivity

Both platforms introduce Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI to improve interaction smoothness. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 features the Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine 4.0. This chip offers up to a 21% increase in GPU performance. It also reduces screen stuttering by 18% and improves app launch speeds by 20%. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 supports 5G and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 vs Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 Specs

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 delivers up to a 77% increase in GPU performance. It supports 90FPS gaming, which marks the first time this frame rate is available on the Snapdragon 4 series. The chip reduces screen stuttering by 25% and boosts app launch speeds by 43%. It also introduces 5G plus 5G/4G dual SIM dual active (DSDA) support.

Devices powered by these chips are expected to launch globally in the second half of 2026. OEMs including Honor, REDMI, OPPO, and realme are preparing to release smartphones with these processors. Yan Chenwei of Qualcomm stated that the new platforms provide stability and reliability. Li Jun of Xiaomi highlighted the continued cooperation between the two companies to drive innovation.

Qualcomm has not confirmed the specific launch window for individual device releases. The company has not disclosed pricing details for the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 or Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. OEMs are expected to determine final product availability and costs based on market conditions.
