Phanteks XT V5-LCD Case Launches With 7-Inch IPS Screen for $73

Phanteks has added a built-in display to its XT V5 mid-tower case, giving PC builders a way to monitor system health without relying on motherboard headers or external monitors. This change matters because it removes the need for complex wiring to a secondary screen, allowing users to check temperatures and fan speeds directly on the chassis. The move simplifies the setup for custom loops and high-end builds where visual feedback is useful.

Built-in display runs on independent microcontroller

The new XT V5-LCD model includes a 7-inch IPS LCD panel with a 1024×600 resolution mounted on the front or side of the case. Unlike standard monitoring solutions that draw data from the GPU or motherboard, this screen runs on an independent microcontroller unit (MCU) with 128MB of local cache. This hardware separation ensures the display updates smoothly even if the main system is under heavy load or experiencing driver issues.

Front connectivity includes one USB-C port supporting 20Gbps speeds, two USB-A ports at 5Gbps, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Storage capacity covers one 3.5-inch drive and two 2.5-inch drives. The Nexlinq software, available for Windows, handles the data feed to the screen, displaying CPU and GPU temperatures, usage percentages, and fan speeds. The base version of the XT V5-LCD ships without included fans and is priced at 499 CNY (around $73.63). Availability began in China on July 23, 2024. Buyers who need pre-installed cooling must purchase the fanless base model and add their own fans, which keeps the entry price low for those who already have components from previous builds.
