Panache Digital Games released a free prologue for 1666 Amsterdam during the Summer Game Fest event. The studio included AI-generated portraits and marketing assets in the build. Creative Director Patrice Desilets apologized after players noticed the artificial content. He called the inclusion an oversight that the team missed before launch.
Studio removes synthetic visuals from marketing materials after player feedback
The title focuses on historical events within the Dutch Republic using a narrative-driven structure. This free release allows players to experience the core campaign mechanics before the full launch. The game operates on typical PC configurations and does not demand specialized graphics cards or processors. Panache Digital Games intends to launch the complete game later this year following development adjustments.
The free build contains no AI assets in the core gameplay segments. Desilets confirmed that the upcoming full game will not include any AI-generated materials. The marketing campaign used synthetic visuals for promotional purposes only. Developers are currently withdrawing the AI-generated content from all official platforms.
Gamers may access the free prologue via major digital distribution platforms without charge. The studio has not announced a specific launch date for the complete version yet. The studio is reviewing player responses regarding the AI content ahead of final development plans. The complete release will preserve the storytelling approach established in the prologue version.
