OWC is launching a hardware-encrypted portable SSD that uses a touchscreen for PIN entry. The Guardian ITG Model arrives in mid-June 2026, targeting users who need on-device security without software.
Touchscreen PIN entry without software
The drive connects via USB 3.2 Gen 2 and hits a maximum transfer speed of 1,000 MB/s. It relies on 256-bit AES OPAL hardware encryption, which is managed entirely through a color touchscreen on the enclosure.

- Max Transfer Speed: 1,000 MB/s
- Encryption: 256-bit AES OPAL hardware encryption

Three capacities and wide compatibility
The SSD measures 76mm by 16mm by 121mm and weighs 209 grams. It ships with a carrying case and includes both USB-C to C and USB-C to A cables. The drive carries a three-year warranty.
Compatibility covers Mac, Windows PC, iPad Pro, and Linux systems. The drive works with any device that supports USB mass storage, and the encryption does not require host software.
OWC has not announced availability outside Japan. The Guardian ITG Model is a niche product for professionals who prioritize hardware-based encryption over software solutions.
