Nine Dots Studio has delayed Outward 2 from its planned July 2026 early access launch to 2027. The studio says it needs more time to meet quality expectations.
CEO announces delay via Steam post
The delay was announced via a Steam post by CEO Guillaume Boucher-Vidal. He acknowledged the timing is sudden, as the studio recently released a trailer inviting players to explore Aurai this summer.
Boucher-Vidal explained that sticking to the original plan would deliver a product that might not satisfy player expectations. He personally apologized to fans who planned their summer break around the release date.
An open beta for Outward 2 remains available until June 22, 2026. The game is now expected to launch worldwide in 2027.
