OpenAI is testing a new ChatGPT feature that connects the chatbot to users' bank accounts for personalized financial guidance. The integration uses Plaid, a secure financial data platform, to link accounts.
Plaid integration powers secure data access
ChatGPT will access balances, transactions, investments, and liabilities. It cannot view full account numbers or make changes. The feature supports over 12,000 financial institutions, including American Express, Bank of America, Charles Schwab, and Robinhood. It defaults to the GPT-5.5 Thinking model.
The feature is currently previewing with a subset of Pro subscribers in the US. General availability and an Intuit integration are planned for later.
OpenAI has not confirmed the exact launch window for broader access.
