The Xbox Series S version of Moon Studios' action RPG No Rest for the Wicked has been delayed indefinitely. The game will launch out of early access in October 2026 exclusively on PlayStation 5. Creative director Thomas Mahler cited hardware limitations as the primary reason for the delay.
Moon Studios cites console hardware constraints as primary reason for platform delay
Moon Studios created No Rest for the Wicked, a third-person survival horror game. The title launched in early access on PlayStation 5 and PC last year. Set in a dark fantasy world, the gameplay emphasizes resource management and fighting supernatural foes.
Xbox Series S hardware relies on AMD Zen 2 processors and RDNA 2 graphics technology. The console includes 10GB of GDDR6 memory allocated dynamically for both CPU and GPU tasks. Target resolutions typically fall between 1080p and 1440p during gameplay.
Mahler noted that the Series S hardware specifications are now comparable to modern mobile devices. Meeting these visual demands creates challenges given the hardware constraints. PlayStation 5 systems feature enhanced AMD Zen 2 processors, RDNA 2 graphics, and 16GB of shared memory.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version is also delayed until further optimization is complete. Creative director Thomas Mahler emphasized the need for extra development time to guarantee stability on all platforms. Resources are currently focused on delivering the PlayStation 5 version for its scheduled October debut.
The game entered early access in late 2024 following its initial release phase. Community feedback has highlighted various stability concerns and mechanical adjustments throughout the early access phase. Moon Studios intends to incorporate this player input prior to the final release.
