MSI adds a new BIOS feature called High-Efficiency Mode that automatically tightens memory timings for standard DDR5 kits. This update matters because it lets users achieve latency levels previously reserved for specialized Ultra Low Latency (ULL) memory without manual configuration. The change targets buyers who want faster response times but lack the time or expertise to fine-tune RAM settings in the UEFI.

The feature lives inside MSI Click BIOS X and applies four distinct presets named Tightest, Tighter, Balance, and Relax. MSI states that the software automatically adjusts selected memory timings to bring standard EXPO kits closer to the performance of EXPO ULL modules. This approach removes the need for users to manually tune each individual timing value in the BIOS interface.
MSI tested the feature using an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, an MSI B850MPOWER motherboard, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. The company ran benchmarks on Windows 11 25H2 with two G.SKILL 2x16GB DDR5-6000 CL30 memory kits. These specific components formed the baseline for the latency measurements reported in the announcement.
The tests show that standard DDR5-6000 latency drops from 79.4ns to 71.6ns when using the Tightest preset. This result sits very close to the 71.4ns latency recorded by an EXPO ULL kit running at its default profile. Enabling High-Efficiency Mode on that ULL kit only shaved off an additional 0.3ns, bringing the total down to 71.1ns.
MSI warns that tighter memory timings can cause system instability and that results depend on the specific processor, motherboard, BIOS version, and memory kit used. Users should expect potential errors if the hardware combination does not support the aggressive timing adjustments. The feature aims to simplify optimization, but stability is not guaranteed across all configurations.
