Microsoft has released a new Surface Laptop 13-inch for Business with an Intel Panther Lake processor. The laptop replaces the previous Snapdragon X Plus model with Intel's Core Ultra 5 325 chip.
Intel Core Ultra 5 325 outperforms Snapdragon X Plus
The Core Ultra 5 325 is an 8-core processor that outperforms the Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 by a wide margin, according to Notebookcheck benchmarks. The iGPU gap is expected to be even larger. The display remains a 60 Hz IPS panel with 1920×1280 resolution, but brightness has increased 25% to 500 nits. Battery capacity stays at 50 Wh, though estimated active web usage drops to 14 hours.

The Surface Laptop 13-inch for Business starts at 1499 USD (about $1,499) in the US with 16 GB RAM and a 256 GB SSD. A configuration with 24 GB RAM and a 1 TB SSD in Platinum costs 2249.99 USD (about $2,250). Microsoft is not offering the 24 GB RAM variant in the UK or Eurozone.
The new model brings the display brightness in line with competing laptops like the MacBook Neo. Microsoft has not confirmed a launch window for the 24 GB RAM option outside the US.
