Microsoft is releasing a preview of Copilot agentic AI mode for Edge for Business. The update aims to encourage enterprise adoption by giving IT teams granular control over where and how the feature operates. Microsoft describes this shift as the next step in automation, with the system taking direct control of devices to execute actions based on user requests.

The preview introduces several core capabilities designed for workplace environments. Copilot can now summarize content, compare data, and condense videos across all open tabs, including YouTube streams. IT administrators gain the ability to scope allowed websites and enforce data protection policies through Microsoft Purview. The system also includes a pause or stop button that allows users to halt AI actions in real time.

A reimagined new tab page replaces the standard layout with Copilot-inspired elements. This interface displays daily activity, suggests prompts, and provides an overview without requiring users to switch tabs. Microsoft integrated Purview controls directly into the browser to audit sensitive inputs and block unauthorized uploads. These measures aim to prevent unsanctioned AI tool usage within corporate networks.

The update currently operates as a limited preview available globally. IT teams must actively sign up for the program to access the software. Microsoft has not confirmed a specific launch window or pricing structure for the broader release.
