KIOXIA announced the XG10, a new solid-state drive designed for PC original equipment manufacturers. The company revealed the product on May 13, 2024. This storage device targets the high-performance consumer market with a focus on speed and capacity.
New drive supports NVMe 2.0d and TCG Opal SED encryption for data security
The XG10 utilizes a PCIe Gen5 x4 interface and conforms to the NVMe 2.0d protocol. It supports TCG Opal SED encryption for data security. The drive comes in an M.2 2280 form factor and offers capacities of 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. Sequential read speeds reach up to 14GB/s, while sequential write speeds hit 12GB/s. Random performance peaks at 2M IOPS for reads and 1.6M IOPS for writes. KIOXIA states that these four key speeds are at least double those of the previous generation.
The XG10 is available globally for OEM partners. Shipments are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2024. The product is not currently listed for direct consumer retail purchase.
This launch positions KIOXIA to compete in the rapidly evolving PCIe Gen5 storage segment. The significant performance jump over prior models aims to address the growing data demands of modern computing. OEMs can now integrate this high-capacity, high-speed drive into new PC designs.
KIOXIA has not confirmed specific pricing details for the XG10 at this time. The company did not disclose the exact launch window for consumer availability. Further details on system compatibility and thermal requirements remain unannounced.
