Keychron has launched the J9 Ultra 8K, a low-profile mechanical keyboard designed to sit on top of a laptop keyboard. The 75% layout board comes with pre-installed macOS keycaps and includes replacement Windows keycaps.
Ultra-thin design at 12mm
The keyboard measures 12mm thick and weighs about 630g. It uses Keychron Milk POM low-profile switches and PBT double-shot keycaps. A steel positioning plate and a five-layer sound-absorbing fill are built in, along with ARGB backlighting.

The J9 Ultra 8K supports tri-mode connectivity via USB-C, 2.4GHz, and Bluetooth. Both USB-C and 2.4GHz modes offer an 8kHz polling rate. It runs ZMK low-power firmware and has a 2000mAh battery rated for 635 hours of use.
The keyboard is priced at 339 CNY (about $49.74) and launched in China on May 9, 2025.
