GTA 6 Brings Back San Andreas Body and Fitness Systems

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will return to its roots by reintroducing body and fitness systems, a mechanic last seen in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This change matters because player actions like eating, exercising, sleeping, and drinking will now dynamically alter the protagonist's appearance and behavior. We get to see how these systems work in practice when the game launches.

Rockstar confirms dynamic appearance changes for November 2026 launch

The title will arrive on November 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Rockstar is also scheduling a gameplay reveal for a Netflix special to showcase these features before the full release. This approach gives players a concrete look at the game's direction well ahead of the launch window.

Rob Nelson, head of development and co-studio head at Rockstar North, explained the studio's philosophy behind these updates. He said, "We look back at our previous games with a critical eye and see where we want to evolve based on what we didn’t do as well as we would have liked to, either because we didn’t have the time, resources or technological capabilities, or in some cases things we just didn’t do as well or consider as fully as we could have." This quote highlights the studio's intent to refine past limitations with current technology.

The game will also feature an in-game social media feed that players can use to doom scroll. Character switching from Grand Theft Auto V returns, with a stronger emphasis on building relationships between characters. We will have to wait and see how these systems work in the final product, but the confirmed features suggest a deeper simulation layer.
