ElmorLabs PMD2X adds per-wire 12V-2×6 monitoring and wireless expansion

ElmorLabs PMD2X replaces the PMD2 with per- wire 12VHPWR monitoring, wireless ESP32C6 expansion, and a $109 price tag.

ElmorLabs replaced its aging PMD2 power measurement tool with the PMD2X, a device that matters because it finally allows per-wire monitoring of 12VHPWR and 12V-2×6 connectors. This upgrade addresses a specific gap for builders who need granular data on modern GPU power cables rather than just broad channel totals. You should care if you are testing high-end graphics cards or troubleshooting power delivery issues on new motherboards.

The PMD2X serves as a direct successor to the discontinued PMD2, which ElmorLabs stopped selling on July 29, 2024. This hardware accessory measures power flow for CPU, GPU, and motherboard cables to help users verify that their power supplies deliver stable electricity. The new unit retains the familiar form factor while adding critical monitoring precision for the latest connector standards.

Specifications

  • 12VHPWR/12V-2×6 Max Load: 51A
  • EPS 8-pin Inputs: 2 inputs, up to 28A each
  • PCIe 8-pin Connectors: 3 connectors, rated for 27A each
  • Display: 2.4-inch OLED
  • Expansion Module: Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C6

The device features a 2.4-inch OLED screen that displays real-time measurements from its various inputs. It accepts two EPS 8-pin inputs rated for 28A each and three PCIe 8-pin connectors rated for 27A each. The most significant technical change involves the 12VHPWR or 12V-2×6 connection, which now supports a maximum continuous load of 51A and provides per-wire data.

ElmorLabs includes a Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C6 expansion module with the PMD2X to enable wireless monitoring capabilities. This addition allows users to view power data remotely without being tethered directly to the device. The accompanying PMD software has also been updated to version 2.0.0.3 to support these new features.

The PMD2X is currently available globally for $109 USD (around $109). This price represents a slight increase from the previous PMD2 model, which sold for $99. The device ships with the necessary hardware to begin monitoring power delivery immediately upon purchase.
