CAPCOM released a major free update for Dragon's Dogma 2 on October 9, the same day the Dark Arisen expansion launches globally. The patch targets years of player complaints about travel friction and economy balance by overhauling fast travel systems and adjusting in-game costs. Players can now access unlimited Portcrystal jumps after completing the Seat of the Sovran quest.
CAPCOM releases a major free update for Dragon's Dogma 2 ahead of the Dark Arisen expansion, addressing travel friction and economy balance.
The update introduces the Eternal Ferrystone, which players obtain automatically from Brant during the Seat of the Sovran quest line. This item removes all usage limits for traveling between Portcrystals across the game world. The patch also expands fast travel options by adding new Portcrystal locations in Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and Volcanic Island Camp.
Travel mechanics receive a significant overhaul with the addition of Oxcart Stopovers. CAPCOM shortened the wait time before players can use the Doze Off command on oxcarts. The company also extended departure hours so that oxcarts now operate from morning until evening instead of limited windows. A new Guardian pawn specialization helps prevent oxcart raids and improves camp defense capabilities.
The update reduces stamina consumption while dashing outside of combat to make overland travel less punishing. Players will no longer lose loss gauge progress if they load an autosave after being defeated in the field. The economy receives several adjustments, including lower inn fees in multiple towns and cheaper barber services. Ferrystones now cost less in Normal Mode but sell for a much higher value than before.
CAPCOM added quality-of-life improvements to the user interface, such as using Ferrystones directly from the map screen by selecting a Portcrystal. The patch improves player icon visibility on maps and adds warnings when camping kits are destroyed during raids. Timed quest notifications now appear more clearly, and item transfers between the Arisen and pawns require fewer clicks.
The next patch arrives in August and will improve frame rates while adding additional save slots. CAPCOM plans to introduce further quality-of-life adjustments targeting Dragonsplague mechanics, pawn behavior, enemy encounters, and UI elements. The current update serves as a foundation for these upcoming improvements ahead of the expansion release.
