Naughty Dog Developing New Uncharted Game, Not a Remake, Sources Say

Rumors are intensifying that Naughty Dog is developing a new Uncharted title, a shift that matters to fans who have waited years for a new entry in the franchise. Sources from MP1st and VGC indicate the studio is working on a fresh game rather than a remake, offering hope for original storytelling instead of nostalgia-driven remasters. This development suggests the studio is moving forward with new IP iterations after a long hiatus since the last major release.

Rumors point to a fresh Uncharted title with Nathan Drake returning in a supporting role alongside Cassie Drake

The project involves key characters from the series, with reports suggesting Nathan Drake will return in some capacity. He may appear alongside Cassie Drake, the protagonist of The Last of Us Part II, potentially in a supporting role. The potential return of Nathan Drake could connect the original Uncharted series with the world of The Last of Us, offering a link for fans of both franchises.

Technical details remain scarce as the project is still in early development stages. The studio has not released any official specifications, platform targets, or release windows for this upcoming title. Current information relies entirely on industry leaks and corroborated reports from trusted sources in the gaming community, leaving the scope and scale of the game open to speculation.

Context for this rumor comes from recent statements by Neil Druckmann, who confirmed that two The Last of Us sequels are in early development. This confirmation has fueled broader speculation about Naughty Dog's pipeline and its next major project after The Last of Us. The last Uncharted release was Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in 2017, which was later included in the 2022 Legacy of Thieves Collection, marking a five-year gap since the franchise's last standalone entry.
