SK Hynix warns supply shortages will persist through 2030
SK hynix leads the production of the DDR5 modules driving these market changes. The company reports that hyperscale AI buyers have secured most global DRAM capacity for 2027. This allocation leaves limited supply for the general consumer market in the coming years.

A 128GB DDR5 kit now costs $3,399 in the United States, which is ten times its lowest-ever tracked price. Standard DDR5-5600 32GB kits have risen to an average of $1,118. DDR4 prices have also increased by 120 to 180 percent year-over-year.
European RAM prices jumped 345 percent compared to September 2025 levels. Industry executives warn that these supply shortages will persist through 2030 or longer. SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung stated that 2027 will be the worst year for memory supply in the industry’s history.
