Besgnulinux has released version 4-0 of its lightweight Linux distribution. The new build runs on a Debian Trixie core and targets 64-bit processors. It uses the JWM desktop environment to keep system overhead low.
New lightweight Linux distribution targets legacy hardware with minimal resource consumption.
The operating system requires approximately 8 GB of disk space and consumes around 320 MB of RAM during average use. Version 4-0 ships as a single 2.7 GB ISO file and boots via UEFI or BIOS using Grub. The installer relies on Calamares, and the default login credentials are besgnulinux/live.
Besgnulinux also offers version 02-09_0 for older i386 hardware. That release comes as a 2.4 GB ISO file and runs kernel 6.12.90+deb13-amd64. The latest build includes the bes-own-dark and besgnulinux-dark icon themes.
The maker states that this version removed leaking, conflicting, or background processes to improve performance. Besgnulinux aims to extend the life of older machines by providing a light system that keeps users satisfied with their hardware.
