Baldur’s Gate 3 Act Two Expansion Mod Released After 18 Months

Players waiting for more content in Baldur's Gate 3 now have a substantial new path to explore. Modder SquallyDaBeanz released a beta version of the Act Two Expansion mod after 18 months of development. This update adds a fully realized region to the game, giving fans a reason to return to the Forgotten Realms. The release provides a structured adventure for those who have completed the base game and seek fresh challenges.

Modder adds linear combat-focused region with 70 items and 30 encounters

The expansion centers on the Chionthar Wilds, a new region accessible through the Road to Baldur's Gate waypoint. SquallyDaBeanz designed this area to offer a different pacing than the original game. The modder stressed that players should not expect the same outstanding level of reactivity seen in vanilla quests made by Larian. This is intended to be a more exploration and combat-focused experience that is, however, fairly linear in its progression.

The mod introduces over 70 new items for players to discover and equip. It also features more than 30 combat encounters set across the new landscape. The developers included new quests, dungeons, non-player characters, and lore entries to flesh out the world. A full clear of the content rewards the party with approximately 30,000 experience points.

This beta release serves as a foundation for a future polished version. Version 1.0 is planned to include improved writing, finished cutscenes, combat balancing, and bug fixes. The current build allows players to test the linear structure and combat mechanics before the final release. We looked at other community expansions earlier while tracking Baldur's Gate 3 mods, but this one offers a distinct new region.

The Act Two Expansion mod is now available in beta for testing. Players can access the Chionthar Wilds and begin their journey through the new content. The modder continues to refine the experience based on feedback from this early release. The project aims to deliver a complete expansion with high production values in its final form.
