The new model, designated as the ROG Falcata with ROG HFX V2X switches, builds on the original split design. It retains the ergonomic 75% layout that separates the left and right hand clusters. The core upgrade is the switch assembly, which uses a 'volcano' stem design to improve stability during rapid typing.
Technical specifications for the ROG HFX V2X switches include a total travel distance of 3.5mm. The actuation force starts at 30gf and reaches 45gf at the bottom of the press. ASUS claims the system offers 0.01mm precision for actuation point adjustment. The keyboard also features an X-shaped stabilizer structure to eliminate key wobble.
Connectivity relies on the ROG SpeedNova 8K wireless protocol to minimize latency. The package includes a detachable silicone wrist rest for added comfort during long sessions. ASUS states the design provides stable keystrokes without the wobble common in other split boards. The device is available in China starting September 17, 2024.
Pricing for the ROG Falcata HFX V2X version is set at 2649 CNY (around $394) at the standard listed rate. A subsidized price of 2251.65 CNY (around $335) is also available for early buyers. This discount makes the magnetic switch variant more accessible for budget-conscious enthusiasts.
