Anbernic released a software update for its RG XX series handheld gaming devices. The patch introduces the MU 2 theme, which changes how players navigate menus and access game libraries. The software refresh enhances the visual design and navigation of existing devices, extending their usability without necessitating additional hardware acquisitions.

New menu layout and font improve navigation across multiple models

The update targets multiple Anbernic models including the RG 28XX, RG 34XXSP, RG 34XX, RG 35XX, RG 35XX H, RG 35XXPro, RG 35XXSP, RG 40XX H, RG 40XXV, and RG CubeXX. Anbernic provides the firmware via standard distribution methods available to owners of these gaming consoles.

The MU 2 theme reorganizes the primary menu structure to reduce navigation steps. Players use the M button to open settings, press Y for quick search functions, and tap L1 or R1 to switch between main screens. A D-pad controls horizontal scrolling within sub-menus instead of using analog sticks.

Anbernic also ships a new font option alongside the reorganized game list layout. The update requires users to install files onto a microSD card with at least 64GB of free space before applying the patch to their devices.

This release aligns with the manufacturer's commitment to providing continuous software maintenance for current device users. Earlier updates prioritized system stability and input responsiveness over graphical or navigational changes.
