AMD just pushed version 0.25 of their open-source project GAIA to address stability problems on Ryzen AI laptops. The changes they made directly target the problem that is causing these constant crashes and users with 16GB ram not even being able to run it in the first place.

AMD GAIA 0.25 update reduces installation size by 90% and fixes 16GB RAM crashes
Now everything should be stable running their agent factory on common consumer hardware configurations. So, GAIA is basically an open-source agent factory made specifically for Ryzen AI devices.
Version 0.25 adds checks on available system memory and starts the environment accordingly. The agent factory automatically downscales the context window size to match the system.
They were also able to significantly downsize the desktop application on Windows from around 0.9GB to around 0.1GB. By removing all non-core dependencies like pytorch and transformers.
There is also now specific logic for which model is used based on your hardware. If you have a high-end system with 64GB or more ram or 32GB of VRAM, it will load Qwen3.6-35B-A3B.
Anything else defaults to the lighter Gemma-4-E4B. They also added support for voice using the AMD Lemonade server with whisper and kokoro-v1 in the gaia talk command.
