The problem persists with AMD FSR Frame Generation 4.0.1, which arrived in the AMD Software 26.7.1 driver release. Hardware Unboxed tested the feature on a Radeon RX 9070 XT and found that the software still struggles with timing. The update included FSR SDK 2.3 and a revised Frame Generation SwapChain 3.1.7 intended to correct GPU frame pacing, but the fix did not fully resolve the underlying issue.

A game can report 120 FPS with frame generation enabled while motion does not appear as smooth as a properly paced 120 FPS output.
Hardware Unboxed concluded that AMD still has not fixed the frame pacing problem for FSR Frame Generation. The reviewers found less consistent pacing with AMD FSR compared to NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation across their test sample.
