Casio G-LIDE GBX-H5600 Solar Watch: 35-Hour Battery and 200m Water Resistance

Casio announced the G-LIDE GBX-H5600-1 and GBX-H5600-2 smartwatches in May. The company designed these devices to support solar charging as a core timekeeping feature. Casio stated that solar power helps maintain basic time display even when smartphone connectivity fails. The announcement highlights the brand's focus on reliable outdoor functionality.

The watch case measures 51.1 by 44.5 by 17.3 millimeters and weighs 47 grams. Casio constructed the case and bezel from carbon and resin materials derived from bio-based plastic. The device includes a bio-based resin strap that fits wrists from 145 to 215 millimeters. The structure provides shock resistance and supports water depth up to 200 meters or 20 ATM.

The display uses a high-contrast MIP LCD screen. Power comes from solar charging and USB charging via a Type-A cable. Battery life reaches up to 35 hours with heart rate and activity tracking active. The watch operates for approximately one month in watch mode with continuous heart rate tracking disabled. Power saving mode extends operation to up to 11 months.

Bio-based materials and multi-sport tracking define this new outdoor timepiece

Connectivity relies on Bluetooth and support for the Casio Watches app. The device syncs time automatically via smartphone. Users can access world time for 38 cities plus UTC. The optical heart rate monitor covers a range of 30 to 220 beats per minute. A 3-axis accelerometer tracks steps, distance, and speed.

The watch supports blood oxygen measurement and multi-sport tracking for activities like running and walking. Cardio load and training analysis features are available. Users can monitor sleep and receive a recovery score. The device includes breathing exercises and activity records for runs and laps. Tide graphs are available for global locations through the app. The watch also displays moon information and sunrise or sunset times. Notifications for phone, messages, calendar, and alerts appear on the screen. A phone finder feature helps locate the connected device. GPS-based distance tracking works through the smartphone. The timer counts up to 100 hours in one-second increments. A countdown timer supports durations up to 60 minutes. Four daily alarms and a smart alarm function are included. The LED backlight provides auto and super bright lighting modes. The price is 44,000 JPY (about $276). The watch launched in Japan in May. Casio has not confirmed the global release schedule for the US, UK, and Europe.
