The free trial covers the base game but does not include expansions. Paid subscribers receive bonuses such as XP boosts. The expansion bundle is available at a discounted price of 10 USD (about $10.00) on Steam. World transfer fees have also been reduced.
A subscription costs 12.95 USD (about $12.95) per month for one character. The Return Home to Vana'diel campaign welcomes former players, including those who played on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360. The promotion started on May 16, 2026.
Square Enix has announced new content and in-game events for the next six years. Producer and director Yoji Fujito said the team is working to solidify the game's foundation and help it reach its 30th anniversary. The company has not confirmed the exact launch window for all upcoming content.
