AMD's Ryzen 5000 series remains the preferred choice for budget-conscious gamers, according to a community poll of over 26,000 participants. The survey shows 38% of players favor the Ryzen 5000 lineup, with the Ryzen 5 5600 replacing the Ryzen 5 3600 as the go-to budget gaming CPU.
Community poll reveals Ryzen 5000 preference
The Ryzen 5000 series is built on the Zen 3 architecture and a 7nm process. It offers a 19% IPC improvement and a 26% gaming performance uplift over the previous Zen 2 generation. The Ryzen 5 5600 features 6 cores and 12 threads, delivering top-tier frame rates in 1080P high-quality gaming.

One key reason for the Ryzen 5000's popularity is the cost advantage of DDR4 memory. A 16GB DDR4 kit costs 600 to 800 yuan, while a comparable DDR5 kit costs 1300 to 1500 yuan. AM4 motherboards like B450 and B550 are priced between 400 and 600 yuan, whereas an AM5 B650 motherboard starts at 700 yuan (about $103).
The Ryzen 5000 series allows users to stick with the mature AM4 platform and affordable DDR4 memory, avoiding the higher costs of the newer AM5 platform and DDR5. This price-performance balance continues to make the Ryzen 5 5600 a strong contender for budget gaming builds.
