Desktop monitor manufacturers shipped 133.4 million units in 2025, marking a 4.3 percent year-over-year growth rate. This expansion signals a recovery from the slump experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. The market has stabilized and is now showing consistent positive momentum across the industry.
High-refresh 27-inch QHD panels remain top consumer choice
Gaming monitors drove the majority of this growth with a 50.2 percent increase in shipments. The sector moved 41 million units in 2025, which now accounts for 31.1 percent of all desktop monitor sales. This represents an 11th consecutive quarter of growth for the gaming display segment.

The 27-inch QHD 240Hz configuration remains the most popular panel choice among consumers. OLED and QD-OLED displays have also gained a significant share of total shipments. Omdia Senior Principal Analyst Hidetoshi Himuro notes that gaming monitors are evolving to keep pace with the rapid development of CPUs and GPUs.
Analysts forecast that gaming monitor shipments will reach 43 million units in 2026. Dual-mode displays are also expected to see double-digit shipment growth by next year. However, semiconductor and component supply chain constraints may negatively impact these market trends.
Concerns regarding OLED burn-in continue to deter some potential buyers from adopting the technology. Omdia has not confirmed specific launch windows for new product categories beyond the current year.
