AMD Ryzen Compatible Memory Database Adds 1479 Records With DRAM Particle Details

AMD's Ryzen memory compatibility database now lists DRAM particle models for 1479 modules, helping builders verify component origins and understand overclocking variance.

AMD Ryzen Compatible Memory Database Adds 1479 Records With DRAM Particle Details

has been updating their database of compatible memory with details that include the DRAM particle models used for each module they have listed. This will allow builders to have a means of being able to confirm the origin of components before purchase helping to eliminate a lot of the mystery involved in choosing the right memory. Now users will be able to look up specific product numbers in order to get the verified particle details prior to making a purchase.

AMD updates its Ryzen memory compatibility database to include DRAM particle models for 1479 modules, helping builders verify component origins before purchase.

Originally the database was just compatible. Now it shows us JEDEC timings, OC standards, XMP/EXPO and includes the particle model. AMD provides a compatibility list for Ryzen processors.

  • Compatible Memory List Size: 1479 records
  • List Content: DRAM particle model
  • List Purpose: Processor and memory compatibility verification

There are 1479 items on the list. This list makes it clear what DRAM particle model is present in each of the memory modules that are compatible.

Now a lot of the time when a manufacturer is making memory they can switch up the DRAM supplier or IC model for any given production run. So long as nominal specifications are met. This is not a guarantee.

Manufacturers could switch suppliers for batches while still meeting specs. Overclocking potential can vary between particles of the same DRAM (i.e. SK Hynix A-Die) but different PCB layout, Rank, CPU MC differences can play a role as well.

OCing potential can be different depending on the PCB layout, Rank and CPU MC differences. Not just the particle type. We covered China's Gloway & KingBank Announce DDR5 earlier during our keeping an eye on Amd launches. It's good to have a standardized place to go to for those looking to build or upgrade with Ryzen.
