Native PC Port of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Enters Beta With FSR and Ultrawide Support

A dev, NotRexed, just dropped a beta version of SkyboundTOTK which is a way to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on a PC. This is big, since it's a native port, and not using traditional emulation layers. So if you want more performance on your regular desktop setup, now you've got a new technical option.

Developer NotRexed releases source code for native Windows port

SkyboundTOTK is for the Nintendo Switch game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It's basically a custom implementation made just for the Windows platform. They've made the software available as source code, so you have to compile it on your own machine.

It's got FSR 1 upscaling, custom image sharpening. They've got some experimental frame interpolation which might help with frame rate. It's got support for ultrawide.

And a full set of keyboard and mouse controls. You'll need to be running Windows 10 or 11 to compile it though.

You'll need at least 45GB of extra space on top of the base game. Only supports the original game in version 1.0.0. They call it a native port in the source but making it available as source code is a pretty unusual way to do commercial stuff. But it looks technically like it's some very custom engine or emulation going on.

This beta was officially released on 2024-10-28 by NotRexed. It gives a technical option for people who want to PC game and are willing to do some software compiling. It's adding ultrawide and frame interpolation for something that didn't have those before.
