Embark Studios just released Frozen Trail, the largest update to ARC Raiders, and it arrives with a free play weekend and significant discounts. This matters because the studio is using this launch to test a new player-versus-environment mode that might stick around. Players can jump in right now to try the new content without spending money, and those looking to buy the game can take advantage of the sale.

Frozen Trail update adds new map, enemies, and housing system
The update introduces Pendola Pass, a new map designed with vertical combat in mind and a unique Redirection map condition. You will also face four new enemy types: the Bully, Skulker, Hydra, and Frigate. To help you survive, the game adds Outposts for player housing outside Speranza and a Research Station for weapon progression.

ARC Raiders is running a Free Play Weekend from October 7 through Monday, October 12. During this period, the base game and Deluxe editions are 50% off across Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. You can also unlock the Premium Pass for 1,150 Raider Tokens if you want to secure the extra content immediately.
A PvE toggle beta test is scheduled to run from October 13 to October 20. The source notes there is no guarantee this mode will become a permanent feature in the game. When we covered the last ARC Raiders update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up, so this expansion continues that trend of iterative refinement.
The update ships today with new maps, enemies, and progression systems. The free weekend ends on October 12, and the PvE beta begins the following day. Players should decide quickly if they want to test the new mode or grab the discounted price before the sale ends.
