MediaTek Filogic 8800 boosts system throughput by nearly 100% in mixed Wi-Fi environments

MediaTek's Filogic 8800 Wi- Fi 8 router platform boosts throughput by nearly 100% in mixed environments, cuts power by 50%, and reduces repair times to under a minute.

MediaTek Filogic 8800 boosts system throughput by nearly 100% in mixed Wi-Fi environments

MediaTek has introduced the Filogic 8800, a tri-band flagship router platform built for the upcoming Wi-Fi 8 standard. This release matters because it targets the messy reality of modern networks where older devices still coexist with new ones. The platform aims to smooth out performance drops that typically happen when Wi-Fi 5, 6, and 7 devices share the same airwaves.

Tri-band platform cuts power use by half and slashes repair times to under a minute

The Filogic 8800 serves as the hardware foundation for high-performance AI applications in home and office networks. It supports cross-generation interoperability, which means it can handle mixed-device environments without forcing users to upgrade everything at once. MediaTek demonstrated this capability at Network X 2026 alongside its subsidiary Airoha Technology.

Specifications

  • Wi-Fi Standard: Wi-Fi 8
  • System Throughput Improvement: Up to nearly 100%
  • Power Consumption Reduction: Up to 50%
  • Network Optimization Tech: DSO+ and NPCA+
  • MTTR Reduction: Under 1 minute

System throughput improves by up to nearly 100% in these mixed-generation setups compared to previous standards. The chip uses DSO+ and NPCA+ technologies to optimize data flow and reduce channel switching delays. These features specifically target high-density overlapping networks, where throughput can improve by up to 80%.

Power efficiency is a major focus, with AI-assisted power saving cutting consumption by 33% in general workloads. Additional frequency deactivation can reduce total power usage by up to 50%. The platform also includes AI smart network diagnostics that shrink average repair times from hours to under one minute.

Alan Hsu, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intelligent Connectivity Business Unit at MediaTek, stated that the company is leading the commercialization of Wi-Fi 8. He described the Filogic 8800 as part of a new era for smarter and more reliable connectivity. The product was nominated for Best Indoor Connectivity Solution at the Network X Awards 2026.
