War Thunder's "Sky Odyssey" update is out now, and it fundamentally changes how players handle bomber combat while adding a massive roster of new vehicles. This matters because the update overhauls bomber survivability and introduces permanent modes that were previously only available during limited-time events. Players who rely on air-to-air combat will notice immediate shifts in missile behavior, while ground forces get access to new tanks and artillery from nations like Greece and India.

Sky Odyssey update adds Greek aircraft and overhauls bomber damage models
Gaijin Entertainment released this major update to bring new hardware from around the world into the game. The expansion adds ground vehicles from the USA, Germany, USSR, Great Britain, Japan, China, Italy, France, and Israel. Aircraft additions include the Israeli Mirage 2000-5EG and Rafale EG, along with the Indian Arjun Mk 1 and Indonesian Harimau. Helicopters and ships also receive new entries, such as the British AW159 Wildcat HMA2 and the Italian RN Giulio Cesare.
The update significantly alters flight mechanics for air-to-air missiles, including the AIM-7, AIM-120, and R-77. Gaijin states that the capabilities of these missiles have increased quite significantly. Bomber damage models have been completely overhauled with adjusted damage accumulation and recalculated hit zones. The hangar preset system cap has also risen from 18 to 25, allowing players to save more configurations.
Sky Odyssey introduces rewards for when enemy players abandon their tanks or ships. Three previously event-only modes, including Nuclear Escalation and Naval Enduring Confrontation, are now permanent fixtures. The Hawk T Mk 1A (FRP) Pack is available for $49.99 USD (around $49.99), and the Giulio Cesare Pack costs $79.99 USD (around $79.99). When we covered the last War Thunder update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up, but this release focuses heavily on new content and structural changes to combat mechanics.
The update is available globally now across all supported platforms. Players can immediately access the new ground vehicles, aircraft, and helicopters listed in the patch notes. The permanent modes and preset system changes apply to all accounts without additional purchase. The update introduces a complete overhaul of bomber damage models and increases the hangar preset system cap from 18 to 25.
