SilverStone ECS07 Converts M.2 PCIe to 5 SATA III

SilverStone has added a practical solution for users who need more SATA ports but lack free expansion slots. The ECS07 expansion card converts a single M.2 PCIe slot into five SATA III interfaces. This allows system builders to attach multiple 2.5-inch drives without using up motherboard SATA headers or full-height PCIe slots. We can use this card to expand storage capacity in compact builds or existing systems with limited connectivity.

The device uses an M.2 2280 M-Key form factor to fit into standard NVMe slots on modern motherboards. It relies on the JMicron JMB585 chipset to handle the signal conversion from the upstream PCIe link to the downstream SATA ports. The upstream connection runs at PCIe Gen3 x2 speeds, which provides sufficient bandwidth for five SATA III drives operating at 6Gbps each. This design ensures that the card does not bottleneck the storage performance of standard hard drives or SATA SSDs.
