Alan Wake 2 players on PC can now access higher frame rates and better image quality thanks to a new graphics update. The change matters because it brings modern upscaling and frame generation tools to the game, which helps systems that previously struggled with performance. Remedy Entertainment released the patch on August 18, 2026, to address these technical gaps.
Remedy Entertainment releases patch 1.2.10 for PC with new rendering features
The update targets PC users first with version 1.2.10, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles receive version 1.200.009 and 1.2.0.10 respectively. This distribution ensures that all players get stability fixes, but only PC owners get the new rendering features. The update applies to the base game across all supported platforms.
PC players will see native support for AMD FSR 4 upscaling added to the game. The system automatically enables FSR 4 when users select FSR Super Resolution in the graphics menu. Additionally, a separate option for FSR Frame Generation appears in the settings for supported hardware. These additions allow for smoother gameplay on compatible graphics cards.
The patch also updates how the game handles ray tracing on PC. Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering now use Microsoft's Agility SDK, which allows support across multiple GPU vendors. This technical shift removes previous restrictions and broadens compatibility for ray tracing features. We looked at similar SDK updates earlier while tracking graphics API changes.
Remedy fixed lingering audio synchronization issues during cinematics on all platforms. The developer also resolved a gameplay bug where the Crossbow Cult Stash blocked access to the Lighthouse in New Game Plus. A stability fix addresses potential crashes that occurred when using Quick Slots under specific circumstances. These changes improve the overall reliability of the game experience.
