The project centers on the Valve Steam Machine, a compact PC that typically relies on integrated graphics similar to an AMD Radeon RX 7600. To boost performance, the modder connected an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT eGPU using an Aoostar EG01 dock. The connection inside the machine uses an M.2 to OCuLink adapter, allowing the powerful external card to communicate with the system's mainboard.

The modder reported that the eGPU became the primary display output immediately upon startup without manual driver selection.

The modder, identified as Redditor Large_Customer_3840, has not yet enclosed the OCuLink cable in a custom case. They stated they are happy running the system openly for now to test stability.
