NKON and Gobel Power are introducing a new class of home energy storage systems that prioritize high capacity in a single unit. The NKON ESS Pro 32.15 kWh Home Battery and the Gobel Power Battery both feature a base capacity of at least 32 kWh. The NKON unit weighs approximately 233 kg, which equals about 514 lbs. This significant mass distinguishes it from lighter, modular alternatives. The design aims to provide extended power supply for single-family homes while simplifying the installation process.

NKON is currently accepting pre-orders for the NKON ESS Pro 32.15 kWh Home Battery through its retail channels. Gobel Power has also opened orders for the first production batch of its 32 kWh battery. The Gobel Power unit is available with a transparent casing option for tech enthusiasts. Both vendors are actively processing initial orders for these high-capacity systems.

This shift toward single-unit giant battery storage systems offers lower upfront costs compared to modular systems. It also reduces the complexity of installation for homeowners. However, the extreme weight of the NKON unit poses handling challenges. A failure in the battery management system could result in a total loss of stored energy. The economic viability of such massive systems for average consumers remains questionable.
