French game developer Spiders is being liquidated, the studio announced. The parent company Nacon will cease operations immediately. The decision affects 71 workers.
Spiders confirmed the news in a statement. The studio said it received confirmation of the liquidation after a long period without clear answers. The planned DLC will still release via Nacon. After that, the studio will cease all functions.
Union calls closure premeditated
The French union STJV criticized the closure. It called the liquidation a premeditated and deliberate choice by Nacon’s management. The union encouraged gamers to boycott Nacon. It stated that 71 workers will lose their jobs due to incompetence and malice.
Spiders developed role-playing games including GreedFall and The Technomancer. The studio’s closure ends a developer that had been active for over a decade.
