Insta360 filed two countersuits against DJI in the US over five utility patents. The move directly responds to DJI's initial lawsuit that targeted Insta360 on the launch day of the Luna Ultra camcorder. DJI originally sought a sales ban for the device, which quickly became the top-selling camcorder in North America within 24 hours.

Insta360 founder vows to defend intellectual property amid patent dispute
The legal dispute centers on gimbal stabilization technology and directional controls used across both companies' product lines. Insta360 argues that its engineering approach remains independent of DJI's Osmo Pocket series. The countersuits address patents covering telemetry overlays, panoramic video stabilization, and other core camera functions.
Insta360 Founder JK Liu issued a public statement confirming the company would not back down from the legal battle. He noted that while Insta360 prefers to let products speak for themselves, the firm remains committed to defending its intellectual property. The countersuits specifically target five utility patents claimed by DJI.
The conflict spans multiple product categories including Ronin gimbals, RS stabilizers, Osmo Mobile devices, and Flow cameras. Insta360 maintains that the Luna Ultra represents a distinct engineering path separate from DJI's existing camera lineup. The company continues to defend its technology against infringement claims in US courts.
