ORICO Technologies released the AP42F magnetic SSD case for iPhone 15/16/17 Pro series on June 10, 2026. The accessory adds direct external storage and video recording capabilities to compatible iPhones. It also includes a built-in SD card reader and pass-through charging port.
iPhone users can now record 4K video directly to an external drive via a magnetic enclosure
The device attaches magnetically to the back of supported Apple phones. It houses M.2 2230 or 2242 NVMe SSDs via a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection. The case uses 17 internal magnets for secure attachment.
ORICO lists a maximum card reader speed of 104MB/s for SD 3.0 media. The USB-C port supports up to 100W input and delivers 85W output for pass-through charging. The unit measures 60mm wide, 70mm deep, and 13mm thick.
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro models can record 4K/120fps ProRes video directly to the attached SSD. ORICO includes a USB Type-C cable and a universal magnetic ring adapter with the case. Actual sustained write speeds may vary based on SSD model and iPhone thermal throttling.
The AP42F costs 4599 JPY on Amazon.co.jp in Japan. Buyers can use code JPORICOAP42F to lower the price to 2759 JPY until June 22, 2026.
