RTX Spark appears in Surface Laptop Ultra and ASUS notebooks

The RTX Spark will appear in Microsoft's Surface Laptop Ultra and notebooks. In the Surface Laptop Ultra, the chipset is rated at 110W TDP. ASUS notebooks, by contrast, are rated at 140W TDP.

The lower TDP in the Surface Laptop Ultra enables a lighter chassis with less bulky cooling. According to a report from WCCFTech, manufacturers may no longer need multiple heatpipes to manage CPU and GPU temperatures. This could lead to more portable designs without sacrificing performance.

There is potential for further power reduction through undervolting. Tools like Afterburner may allow users to lower power consumption below the stock TDP. However, it is unclear if the Surface Laptop Ultra's cooling solution is adequate under sustained heavy loads.

The RTX Spark is expected to appear in a range of notebooks starting in fall 2025. Pricing details have not been disclosed. Availability will be global.
