Threads now has 500 million monthly active users, and Meta is rolling out a batch of new features to keep the momentum going. The Communities feature is leaving beta with a redesigned Hub, Community Icons, and Community Progress. The Community Champions programme is also expanding.

Communities exit beta with redesigned Hub
The platform is adding Local Communities in 100 countries, with native-language tags rolling out in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. A new tool called 'Your Algo' lets users adjust topic frequency for 1, 3, or 7 days. Meta says these preferences remain private and can be managed alongside 'Dear Algo' in a unified settings hub.

Live Chats are expanding with co-hosting and quote moments. The rollout begins in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, with additional regions following.
The updates give users more control over their feed and community experience. Threads continues to grow as Meta invests in social features beyond the core timeline.
