A new single-player Star Wars RPG, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, is being developed by former BioWare staff led by Casey Hudson. The project is funded by GreaterThan Group (GTG), a company founded by former NetEase executive Simon Zhu.

The game will not rely on generative AI tools. Hudson described AI as creatively soulless and said he is unimpressed with it. The game will also not be extremely long. Hudson believes bigger is not necessarily better and that many players want to finish a game rather than invest hundreds of hours.
GTG also funds other studios, including Bullet Farm led by David Vonderhaar and MAGship led by Masato Sakai. Zhu stated that player satisfaction, commercial success, and artistic achievement do not have to be compromised for one another. He said the goal is to give the best creators the opportunity to work on dream projects.
Bloomberg reported the funding and development details. The game's release date and platform have not been confirmed by the developer or publisher.
