Sanwa Direct has released the Smart Curtain Robot 400-SSA008, a retrofit automation device for home curtains. The company announced the product for sale in Japan on May 20, 2026. This new hardware allows users to automate existing curtain rails without requiring any structural construction or installation work.
Automates existing curtain rails without construction
The device measures 65mm in width, 62mm in depth, and 114mm in height. It weighs approximately 243 grams and attaches securely to standard U-shaped rails using included mounting rolls in large and small sizes. The robot operates on a USB-rechargeable battery that provides approximately four months of life on a single charge. It includes a USB charging cable measuring approximately 92cm in length.
Users control the curtain robot through the free Sanwa Connect smartphone application. The app enables wireless opening and closing of the curtains from anywhere. The device also features built-in sensors for monitoring room temperature and light intensity. A timer function allows for automated scheduling based on these environmental inputs.
The Smart Curtain Robot 400-SSA008 is available in Japan for 10,800 JPY, which is approximately $68.01. This price includes tax and applies to the direct sales channel. The product launch coincides with the start of pre-order availability for the Japanese market.
