Samsung Max VPN originated from Opera Max, which Samsung acquired and rebranded. The service was available globally on Android devices. Its shutdown follows the recent discontinuation of Samsung Messages, with users migrating to Google Messages.
The app combined VPN connectivity with data compression and privacy tools. It was designed to reduce data usage and protect user activity. Samsung has not announced a replacement service.
In a message to users, Samsung said: "Thank you for being with us over the years. Your support and activity truly meant a lot to us and helped shape this app into what it became." The company did not provide a reason for the shutdown.
