Rockstar Games, the developer of Grand Theft Auto VI, is facing accusations of union-busting after firing 34 employees in 2025. The dismissals affected 31 workers in the UK and 3 in Canada. Scottish Labour MPs Chris Murray, Tracy Gilbert, and Dr. Scott Arthur have accused the company of obstructing the legal process.
MPs accuse Rockstar of obstructing legal process
The IWGB union claims Rockstar failed to cooperate with disclosure requests and denied workers the right to appeal. Union president Alex Marshall described the company's behavior as corporate legal stonewalling. He said Rockstar has shown no respect for UK trade union law and has provided a shifting narrative that contradicts itself.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer initiated a ministerial investigation after MP Chris Murray raised the case during Prime Minister's Questions. Murray stated that constituents lost their jobs and income, with one person forced to leave the country due to the removal of their visa sponsor. MP Tracy Gilbert said workers asking for fairness and transparency should not be met with silence and closed doors.
Dr. Scott Arthur noted that during a visit to Rockstar late last year, senior management emphasized their responsibility to treat staff openly and fairly. Based on accounts from his constituent, he said these principles are not being consistently upheld. Rockstar has not publicly commented on the allegations.
