Qt Group has released the first beta version of Qt Creator 20. This preview release introduces significant updates to the development environment, focusing on artificial intelligence integration and developer workflow improvements.

New features focus on artificial intelligence integration and developer workflow improvements.

The update adds an Agent Client Protocol extension that allows the integrated development environment to communicate with AI agents. These agents can understand the codebase and perform actions such as editing files or running builds. The release also includes a new Zen Mode extension that hides surrounding user interface elements to provide a distraction-free coding environment.

The team also expanded Model Context Protocol support for tasks and added a preferences page for managing servers. Mobile development receives new UI editors for icons and splash screens, along with limited support for accessing the file system on iOS devices.

Qt Creator 20 Beta is available for download now through the Qt Online Installer. Users must select the Preview channel to access the software. The update is available globally and does not require a paid license for beta testing.
