The app was built by engineer Stijn Spanhove and runs directly on the Ray-Ban Display hardware. It utilizes the Meta Wearables Device Access Toolkit, which opened to developers in mid-May. This toolkit allows third-party creators to build lightweight web applications for the glasses' display.
Key features include a ghost racer mode that lets users compete against their own previous run times. The interface displays coin pickups and sprint zone bonuses to gamify the activity. A mini leaderboard tracks performance metrics directly on the device screen.
The application is optimized to process light enough for smooth operation on the glasses alone. It does not require a paired smartphone in the user's pocket during use. Processing data directly on the device minimizes lag and enhances the user experience for runners.
