Intel plans to release a new desktop processor based on its existing 13th and 14th generation Raptor Lake architecture in the first half of 2027. The company calls this upcoming hardware Raptor Lake Next, which will target mainstream users rather than high-end enthusiasts.

New desktop chip targets mainstream users with LGA1700 socket and DDR4 support
The new chip falls under Intel's Bartlett Lake lineup for edge computing applications. This follows the previous release of the Bartlett Edge series, which featured up to twelve performance cores without efficiency cores but never reached the consumer market.
The processor will use the LGA1700 socket and support DDR4 memory. Motherboard manufacturers are reportedly ramping up production of DDR4-compatible boards in anticipation of demand for this refresh.
Intel might delay or cancel the DDR4 option if memory prices fluctuate too drastically. The new chip could debut alongside the next-generation Nova Lake processors at CES 2027.
